I hope this is addressed soon. It impacts all inhabitants of the Friendly Island. We need to educate the youth and all members of community. No more plastic, recycle be kind to mother earth :)

We own on the island and have dealt with enough issues regarding the quality of the air or lack thereof. If money is the only influence to correct this situation rather than compassion for those living on the island, maybe the cruise lines will make your decision for you as I am certain that those vacationers that were on the island during this last fire will have a few choice words to say about this "lovely" island and how they would prefer not to return.

The last time there was a fire I alerted a politician. I also met an American tourist who asked me if there were pipes in the landfill to allow the toxic and dangerous gases to escape. He stated that if there were none then one day there will be a dangerous large explosion as there was already in another country with deaths. This is a very serious matter and the fact that they only keep talking with no action makes it even more serious!

It needs to be dealt with Asap. Not nice coming home to a smoked out house.

Dear Government of St Maarten; Parliament & Council of Ministers. Enough = enough, everyone agrees the 'dump' has to be dealt with in a responsible manner and the time for dilly-dallying on this matter has long since passed. We need - with immediate effect - short-, medium-, and long-term solutions for this issue to be executed. And while certain long term issues may take a bit of time in hammering out the final details ...... really there is NO EXCUSE not to start on the short term matters. Extinguishing the actual fire comes to mind!!!

dear government of Sint Maarten, please issue the landfill as a major health risk to all residents and prioritize this issue as urgent and immediate! Dear second chamber of The Netherlands, please demand that Sint Maarten leaders deal with this issue as urgent and immediate, we are still citizens within the Dutch kingdom and deserve clean air and health safety! For decades Sxm governments have failed to set a modern solution to waste management in motion. Due to non action, the people are slowly poisoned by dirty air every single day, and on worse days suffering from nausea, itchy eyes and troats! In effect... Government is allowing due to their non action people to get sick, cancer and respiratory illness has risen! Please help!!!

This not only pollutes the environment but it also in turn affects all living beings in the surroundings.
