The Sanitary Landfill (aka The Dump) problem on St. Maarten

Time to stand up for our rights

I cannot believe that in this day and age they still try to justify having a landfill next to the capital city.

This is a pressing issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

Something must be done. It would have been an easier problem to solve 30 years ago it will be an even more difficult problem to solve in 30 years

I am a timeshare owner. Please keep the island safe for us. Thanks

Do something about this!

A long term sustainable solution is needed. There have been to many promises and too much talk about this for years now. This has to be one of the top priorities in the upcoming elections. We ask live on a small island, let's all work together to preserve it!

The samitary lanfill problem on SXM: 1. Prioritize this issue to be dealt with urgently in the next COM meeting 2. Issue and communicate a deadline as to when a solution to the Sanitary Landfill problem can be expected. 3. Issue an instruction, including a deadline for project completion, to the relevant Government Department(s) to execute the project that tackles the Sanitary Landfill problem. Need a solution, now......

This is a health hazard to the island as well as a huge embarrassment.

Solve this problem as soon as possible please. Even in Colebay I get sick of all the toxins. After every fire on the dump I'm coughing for weeks and the headaches take even longer. The poor people who live closer by must be feeling it much worse. This is unacceptable.

This is a third world means of garbage disposal and I thought St.Maarten wanted to move out of that category in the worlds eye's!

Tired of fake promises! This is an urgent matter! Do something about it!

Its a humanitarian and environmental crime to let this go on!

This smoke is too toxic. I live in Philipsburg and it literally hurts your throat there if the dump is on fire. This is not good for tourism either!

As an allergy , sinus , and asthma sufferer, this is intolerable. Closing windows and doors is not the solution! So long this matter had to be addressed. Solutions, such as recycling, have just been ignored. Why do you think that so many people dying of cancer? We don't need to read about how many conferences government attends. This issue needs to be fixed and fixed NOW!

Obviously no forethought was put into how the increase in tourism would impact the island.

Who's idea was this ?You put your dump in the middle of town and historical revnue generating and redential area and i'm not talking about the festival village and then talk for the people government cares my foot. Century old eye sore. In the middle of your island capital shame.

For years I have personally discussed innovative and newer solutions for our island. Your children and grandchildren will be punished by your selfish doings . Government officials who fill there pockets with other people's hard earned money for there family. That family ? Will continue to generate into the most unhappiest and unhealthiest of people in the world. As you do this you are shortening your future generations life spans.

Please save our beautiful oasis from the toxic emissions from the dump.
