The schools are the last things that should be defunded. Our children should be the #1 priority.

I worked in a contract position with Playworks in many KPS schools. Kids deserve as many caring and consistent adults as they can have in their lives. Holistic education is the greatest factor in later successful, community engagement, and economic growth.

Stop defunding the schools and social programs. I am a child of a former police officer but enough is enough. We need police reform NOW. Do not take from the kids!

Now is the time to make a shift. Choose a new direction. Cut ties with KDPS. Shift funding back toward youth programs.

Education and poverty are known and proven to be the 2 highest significant impacts on crime rates. Defunding education and actively increasing police funding shows a lack of desire to improve the community at large, and instead play into the school prison pipeline where the labor of incarcerated individuals is exploited for pennies. Spend the money where it matters most, these children are the future of this country and to cut education funding is a disservice to the citizens and students within the Kalamazoo public school system

There is no room for police in schools, let’s use a mechanism that actually works and helps kids grow.

Education should be funded first and foremost, cut police funding too much policing.

End police presence in KPS schools. Invest in the future and fund EDUCATION more than the corrupt police system.

The poor support of the education of our children is the direct cause of the moral issues and lack of critical thinking skills in our country. We breed intolerance and ignorance when we don’t invest in education. Do not cut any funds to KPS.
