Mr.Herron was a great leader in the classroom and out...I loved him as a teacher even though my sense of talking to much seemed to keep me in trouble in his class...

I am in favor of naming RNR's band room after Mr. Herron. As a middle schooler, band was my outlet or my safe haven. He instilled in me the desire to become better so I worked hard for that goal. Now that I am a music educator I have grown to fully appreciate his efforts and leadership. His love for teaching is an inspiration. His enthusiasm gave students the initiative to be "Only the Best"...not just in band but in every aspect of life. Naming the band room in his honor would be a positive reflection of his 40+ years of dedication to the music programs in Kingsport.

I still can't believe we had a jazz band in Junior HIgh. Mr. Herron was the best!

One of the few teachers I still respect all these years later... Just wish the "petition" actually specified what it was for...

Mr. Herron was always a favorite teacher of mine. I think this namjng of the bandroom after him is a great idea. He positively influenced so many kids.

Music became the driving force in my life when I first picked up a pair of drum sticks back in 1990. I have Mr. Herron to thank for playing a huge part in kick starting my love of performing.

Charlie Herron has touched the lives of so many students. The DB band was very fortunate to have such a strong feeder program.

Mr. Herron was one of the few teachers who made me want to be a teacher myself. He expected our best, 100% of the time, and that's what he got. Mr. Herron made students feel like they could accomplish big things, which is what a teacher should aspire to do. He certainly deserves this honor!

Mr. Herron can be credited with instilling a work ethic in so many young lives! They don't make them like him anymore.

Mr.Herron was a good band director. He did show me I had potential in playing the clarinet. I went on to play in Dobyns Bennett band.

I was a ninth grader in Mr. Herron's first band at Robinson. I remember him as an excellent educator who always pushed us to do our best. He was instrumental in my continuing band at Dobyns Bennett. The band program shaped my life - what fun we had in our many travels! Mr. Herron shaped many, many lives over the years and I encourage the powers that be recognize his outstanding efforts by naming the band room at Robinson in his honor!

I can honestly say I don't know of anyone more dedicated to his students than Charles. He loved music and loved to share and instill that love to his students.

Amazing educator and person. He demanded that students give their best. He was diemanding but fair. Very dedicated, it has been 38 years since Robinson and I still remember Mr. Herron clearly. After his years of dedication it is only fitting that the band room bear his name. Diane Routon

Mr. Herron is one of the finest educators I've ever known. He not only taught us to appreciate and understand music, he also taught us how to make our own. I can't think of many gifts finer than that.

Mr. Herron was one of the best teachers I ever had. He expected your best and that's what you gave him. He taught me that you earn success through hard work and perseverance. It's a lesson that I carried through many more years of education and continue to apply in my life to this day. Thank you.

Mr. Herron's pedagogical talent, patience, and high standards not only touched thousands of student's lives over the course of his career, it also laid the foundation for the success of the Dobyns-Bennett Band in the 1980s and 1990s.

Thank you, Mr. Herron, for teaching me the love of music and for teaching me that girls can master a "boy" instrument just as well.
