Thank you Mr. Herron for not only instilling a love of music in thousands of children, but also for teaching them what it meant to work hard, accomplish mutual goals, and accept responsibility for their own successes and failures (just to name a few!). So many life lessons were taught and learned in your music classroom!

Mr. Herron was the best teacher I ever had. Thanks to him, I cannot imagine living my life without music.

I played clarinet/bass clarinet at RNR from 88-90. Mr. Herron was an important factor in my developing love of music as well as personal discipline. Although I ultimately chose colorguard. I am still involved with my high school band program to this day.

I can remember no teacher that had unwavering high expectations of each and every student. He proved to each student that they could accomplish more than he/she realized.

Mr. Herron expected maximum effort from all of his students and those who provided that effort were rewarded. His standards were much higher than No Child Left Behind or the Common Core and his philosophies reached far beyond the band room. To the members of the school board, I respectfully request that you provide “results, not excuses” and honor Mr. Herron by naming the band room after him. Let’s send current and future students and teachers a message that nothing less than excellence is expected of anyone passing through this school system. To Mr. Herron, this Nervous Nellie french horn player benefited greatly from the required practice times, the Friday tryouts, the performances, the good times in between and the sense of community being in the band provided. Thank you. I humbly add that those who have benefited either from my teaching and research efforts, or my parenting skills, should thank you too.

Even as a non band member, but former RNR student (1996-1999), when I think of the band, I think Mr. Herron.

Mr. Herron helped shape me into the person I am today, He taught me the importance of being early for everything and of performing with confidence. He is a wonderfully funny and caring person, and I am so glad to have had him as my band director.

He is the sole reason that I show up 15 minutes early for every appointment or class that I have now. A wonderful man!!

Mr. Harren has instilled great values which in return,have his students venominal study skills for future education.

I can only hope my son has a teacher that inspires him like this in school! We need more like him.

My time in Mr. Herron's class room is by far my best memories of middle school. He was that strong, male role model I needed I my life. Only the best!

Mr. Herron deserves the best, because he gave the best.
