I remember his cartoons being repeated in WW2 when I was a boy. A most worthwhile campaign

The insight provided by his cartoons is a valuable source for contemporary historians attempting to understand the soldier's perspective of life at the front.

An extraordinary man who led an extraordinary life and truly made his pen mightier than any sword. It is now high time that his abilities not only as a cartoonist but also as a soldier, film director and general all round "Good Ol' Bloke" are properly recognised.

Bairnsfather's cartoons tell real stories as primary historical evidence of life in the trenches and, moreover, that 'keep calm and carry on' British attitude and ability to bring humour into any situation. Anyone who is familiar with his work understands the important role he played in maintaining moral and how the sentiments of his many works are still so relevant today. I wholeheartedly support the campaign and urge everyone please to do the same.

BB is an inspiration to illustrators and historians of the Great War for his pathos, humor, window into war and trench life.
