A letter has been sent to Essex County Council asking them to name the soon to be constructed Essex-Windsor EMS station at Dougall Avenue & E.C. Row in Windsor, in honour of the Service's first Chief, Brian R. Bildfell. Chief Bildfell dedicated his career to advancing healthcare and paramedic services in Essex County and the City of Windsor. Residents and visitors to our community have been well served and have access to improved Emergency Medical Services, in part thanks to the vision, dedication and leadership of Chief Bildfell. . Beyond that,he demonstrated unparalleled commitment to supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of the staff of Essex-Windsor EMS.

This steady growth demonstrates our collective desire to honor his legacy through the naming of this station. Please continue to draw others into this conversation so that we might reach this milestone and effectively convey the strength of our request to the Council.

I worked indirectly with Brian as an Ambulance Service Operator and later with Emergency Health Services Ministry of Health and Essex County EMS. Brian was a Visionary and Builder in the development of EMS throughout various areas of the province. Essex County was very fortunate to have Brian ultimately develop and manage their EMS Program.
I can't think of someone more deserving at this time. Brian was a fair leader, who did an incredible job at building EMS in Essex County into something to be proud of. It was an honour to work for and along side him.
A fitting memorial for a man who dedicated himself not only to EMS, but to his employees. He made it his business to know your name and know about your family... May we pay him the same respect.
Brian was a leader in the EMS industry in Ontario and it is incumbent upon us to tell future generations of paramedics who the important people are.
Thanks Dean for starting this. You were a true and trusted friend to my dad in life and continue to be so to my mom and family after his passing. Regardless of if this happens or not it's knowing that people still remember and want to honor the man that he was that matters most.

Brian was the first and only Chief of EWEMS, to date, who was truly able to understand and provide honest and unconditional support for his Paramedics. His legacy in health care is unparalleled. His dedication to the community which he served will likely remain unchallenged in the future. They just simply don't make men like him anymore.
