There will be important documents and other texts in there. Lawrence’s work itself is of great importance and much will not yet have been published.

Very sad news. It is crucial that Lawrence's work is saved for the future, for the people, poets & scholars now and those to come.

While not knowing exactly what he has there, I suspect much of the important archive of the small press Writers Forum is there, and should be saved for the nation.

works need a good archive

It is vital that archive professionals are permitted to survey this collection in the setting in which it was created and stored by Upton, and that the necessary measures are taken to preserve the archive into the future for all interested in Upton's work. Please save this collection! The saddest part of working as an archivist is hearing so frequently that potentially significant collections have been skipped or binned due to the lack of awareness by those who follow. Lawrence Upton's work and archive is one of the most valuable in contemporary poetry, both nationally and internarionally. It contains unique publications, artworks and digital material essential for the study and understanding of different forms of concrete and visual poetry, as well as poetry in verse, essential in the 20th and 21st centuries, from Upton himself as well as from a great group of other authors and artists from around the world, mainly but not only contained in the impressive catalog of the Writers Forum Press, which Upton co-edited for a number of years together with the late Bob Cobbing, who founded it in the 1950s, with poet Adrian Clarke and also alone. Among such publications, I can mention material from my first book of visual poetry, and my only book in English so far, "London Poems 2001-2003", Including most probably preparatory drafts and versions. Upton's work as a poet, artist, performer and publisher is yet to be studied and understood in its deserved totality by resarchers and academics, for which it is crucial to keep his archive safe and publicly available. A great part of UK's and the world's history of experimental poetry and art are explained and contained in those documents and artworks. My own work and that of other creators, as far as in Latin America, have been deeply influenced by him and by all the diverse facets of his work. Lawrence's work is of great importance to the poetry world - it is of paramount importance that these are saved and secured.

It is imperative that these documents are saved.

A lifetime of work should not be lost in an administrative process.

This is important.

It is essential that every effort is made to appraise Lawrence Upton's papers in order to preserve those of significance for future research
