Upton achieved a significant body of work in British poetry. He was an important writer, performer, publisher and archivist. His papers and those he was looking after will be of considerable value to scholars and the generations to follow. His archive should be preserved.

I think there's little doubt that Lawrence Upton was one of the key figures in the British Poetry Revival. His personal papers are likely very relevant to that.
