The papers of Lawrence Upton are an important resource from a key figure in British Poetry. Allowing their removal and archiving, initially by academic friends, and then by a suitable HE institution, would be a significant cultural contribution by sympathetic local authority. It would save that authority the cost of their disposal, and preserve an important part of UK cultural heritage for further study.
