Lawrence Upton was indeed central to the British Poetry Revival, as the obit accurately states--which means he was central to some of the most important developments in British poetry in the second half of the 20C, and while he was locally centered he was also an international figure. A prolific writer, editor, publisher, and performer, his archive is of inestimable scholarly and creative value and should not be lost under any circumstances.

Upton was an important literary figure. I have no doubt that his archive would be valued by scholars of visual and performance poetry in the future; it is important that it is properly preserved.
