Jesus is the light and we have to be the light to shine his ministry upon the world. Ungodly speaking is not pointing to Jesus and 1908 turns people away from Christ. He is being fazed out.

I am outside the C of N now, largely because of the concerns being addressed in this project.

Thank you! It's about time! I live here in Texas, the heart of Trump country. There are plenty of his supporters in my church. I know, because they don't make any secret of it! I was right on the razor's edge of leaving when my professor told us about this petition. Seeing it gives me a glimmer of hope.

Here's an incredibly wise quote from this 1908 Project. It doesn't exactly mince words. There's no way I can do less than sign it.

I appreciate the tone of humility, grace, and honesty demonstrated here. May conversations stem from these statements that build and sustain flourishing communities of faith.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. - Paul to the Ephesians

I would extend an invitation to us as leaders and pastors to repent for our acquiescence in confronting this threat. American Nazarenes in particular have embraced the culture wars and with them their political allegiances, rather than remain faithful to the prophetic tradition of the scriptures and the wisdom of Jesus. Pastors are fearful to speak to their congregations--against the principalities and powers working to fuel historic injustices and a will to power. As a result, we are no longer a vessel for shalom in the world.

I affirm (1) the public naming of these challenges to the witness of Christian churches, and (2) the methodological commitment to conversation.
