We want everyone in the EU to realise that many millions of people in the UK continue to support and admire the work done by EU institutions to create a peaceful, safer and more sustainable Europe. This UK government does not speak for us and we will continue to work to bring Britain back closer to Europe and the European ideal

I appreciated being part of the EU, and have always enjoyed the many advantages of our membership. I’m ashamed of the people who agitated for, and brought about this disastrous outcome. It will not be healed in my lifetime and for that I am sad. My apologies to the EU members.

Being part of the EU has been a major part of my life, and am so sad that it appears to be coming to an end. Am signing this also in memory of my husband, who died in 2007, but was a passionate European, and in his capacity as a university lecturer, set up student exchanges across Europe. Hopefully we will be back at some point!
