As a property owner of a home on Duck Lake and cottage on Crooked Lake I can attest that there is significant damage and benefit to drainage to those beyond the 2 larger lakes to beginning this project ASAP. I personally, as well as my neighbors, will be incurring large costs just for tree removal and the property damage to our homes in Barrington Shores on or in the area of Duck Lake. Currently I am expecting the costs of property damage to be much higher on my home in Barrington Shores from the flooding than it is on my Crooked Lake cottage. The insinuation that some made at township meeting yesterday that there is not value to lowering the water levels to those not on Crooked or Eagle is not accurate. Lowering the levels of the lakes needs to be a top priority if that is what will lower the water in the adjacent area and prevent more damage. The property damage some homeowners, including me, have incurred as a result of the flood damage already dwarfs the reported $800,000 cost of the temporary solution. If, as reported, lowering Crooked and Eagle will also lower Pine Island, Duck, and Pretty Lake this needs to be done or there will be huge damages to homes throughout the township and not just on the larger lakes. We currently have a 3 layer high sandbag wall on top of our concrete seawall. 2 pumps are constantly pumping water from behind the wall back into the lake. Our drain tiles and sump pump in our lower level are pumping to keep water from rising through the slab. If the water rises a few more inches, we will be fighting to keep water from pouring through our door. The surrounding neighborhoods have been hit just as bad and in many cases worse than the lake. Please help our community!

This bureaucratic stonewalling needs to stop. I don't believe rattlesnakes are on the endangered species list. Please get off your hands and do the right thing. Rattlesnakes don't vote, but we do.

Many of us who do not live on the lake are suffering from the flooding and have not been told what is going to b done to help us either. We had a pond that dried up every year is now only kept out of our basement by a 4 ft berm we built ourselves. Everyone impacted by the water needs to be helped physically and financially.
