Intussen het die Groot-Brakrivier polisie-kommunikasiebeampte, kst Laurianne Botha bevestig dat nog ‘n fietsryer vanoggend dood is, nadat hy op die R102 vanaf Fraaiuitsig in die rigting van Groot-Brakrivier gery het. Die man, in sy 60’s, is op die toneel dood verklaar.
Botha sê die 80-jarige motoris beweer die oorledene het in die geelstreep gery , maar toe na bewering skielik voor hom ingeswaai het.
Die polisie ondersoek ‘n saak van strafbare mansslag. Die oorledene se identiteit is nog nie bekend gemaak nie.

Another life lost on the R102 proves that the local authorities have completely failed to protect people on our roads. This silence from the traffic department is deafening while these preventable tragedies continue to wreck our community. I am taking this directly to the municipal council now to demand immediate speed enforcement before someone else dies.

Baie goeie idee om spoed aan te pas na 80km om langs die R102 te woon het ondraaglik geraak. Die geraas van motors wat teen hoë snelhede ry is erg. Ons wildlewe ly ook hieronder.
A request that the speed limit been reduce was minute in the Ward 4 committee meeting and again before the "signing off" of the road in December 2020. A suggestion was also made for a 4 way stop or traffic light at the corners of Ornamental Nursery as Groenkloof Rheebok Retirement Centre. Thank you
Verlaging van die spoedgrens na 80 is hoogs aanbeveelbaar. Die kruising by die kwekery moet voorsien word van n vier rigting stop. Die kruising is gevaarlik en die beperkte sigbaarheid agv die bult skep n gevaar.
Please lower the speed and install speed cameras as well as on Morrison road which runs parallel. Too many innocent people die on these two roads due to speeding and cars that overtake on the double lines. Need speed cameras urgently please.
The part of the R102 from The SPAR at Greatbrak to Kleinbrak is a built up residential area with several turn offs and hidden entrances which makes the current speed limit of a 100km/h very dangerous. It is also difficult to access the R102 safely with speed of upcoming traffic.

The R102 runs along residential areas and as such interacts with suburban traffic entering or leaving it. The 100km/h limit is largely ignored and MUST be reduced.

It is horrific! Motorist speed as if this road is a highway. I am sure that some exceed the limit of 100 & 80 km/h. Sad to hear that another human being killed again.
