On April 12th 1980, Terry Fox dipped his leg in the Atlantic Ocean symbolizing the beginning of what he hoped would be a cross Country Journey to raise money for Cancer Research. On September 1st 1980, his journey was cut short by the return of cancer. He ran for 143 days and covered 5,373 kilometres (3,339 mi). His journey on this earth ended on June 28th 1981 but he left a standing legacy. Each year, on the third Sunday in September, caring people take up Terry's cause and run in his name to raise money for Cancer Research. I propose that the New Brunswick Government legislate the third Sunday each September officially as "Terry Fox Day". Over 30 years many millions of dollars have been raised for Cancer Research and its about time we honour Terry for his accomplishments. Please sign this petition in Terry's memory so we can bring more attention to his cause and honour his memory.

Terry is the reason I started running. He deserves this and so much more for everything he gave to this country.
