I support term limits for members of Miami Shores Village Boards. Board members shall serve no more than two consecutive terms for a total of six years. They will be eligible to apply again after sitting out one term. Incumbent Board Members holding office on January 1, 2016, regardless of their prior length of service may continue to serve on the Board until their existing term expires, but shall be eligible for reappointment by Council to another consecutive term, provided they have not already served for six consecutive years.

The feedback regarding board composition continues to highlight a genuine desire for fresh perspectives in our local government. I am currently organizing these comments to ensure they are presented clearly during our upcoming presentation to the council.

I approve the motion to limit board member terms in Miami Shores, FL. Time for change and new blood.

A major barrier of not having term limits is that year after year the same people get appointed to the boards, making it difficult for newcomers and particularly people of color to get appointed.

Miami Shores Counsel needs to represent the changing demographics of our Village. A two year fixed term limit would help achieve this.

All Shores boards and appointments made by the Village Council to other community boards (i.e. DCS) should have term limits: ideally two terms followed by at least one 'term' off prior to consideration for reappointment. Individuals should have clear and demonstrated competencies directly related to the board upon which they wish to serve.

Term limits make sense. We need new, qualified people with fresh perspectives and will to keep an open mind.
