This petition is to going to be presented by the State Senate to change the current policy for TN P.O.S.T that De-certifies Officers who have been out of Law enforcement after 10 years, requiring the officers to attend another full basic police academy, which is expensive and a burden on smaller municipalities and Government agencies. When a 3 week transition school/ In-service is all that is needed. We propose the extension from 10 years to 15 years to allow qualified, trained personnel to be able to continue their career in Law Enforcement, and ease the financial burden of their agency or Depts. This will create jobs, and an increase of law enforcement applicants which has decreased tremendously over the last decade.

The momentum behind this push is finally grabbing the attention of those stubborn bureaucrats who refuse to acknowledge this broken policy. They want to waste our tax dollars on redundant training but we are forcing them to face the reality that their rules are actively bleeding departments dry.

This makes total sense. We are already short on guys and making them redo the whole academy after a short break is just wasting tax money. Keep them working.

We need trained people in these positions, to train new recruits. However if you they are not in law enforcement due to hate crimes or corruption they should not be allowed to participate
