Tell the City of Elmira NO to a Roundabout on North Main Street!

This is not a good idea in this area because to many local businesses will lose out on business. I understand the roundabout on 13 but, in the city this just doesn't work. Maple Ave businesses have lost a lot and now you want to do this to the downtown area. NO We are trying to rebuild this city after a flood that was more than 20 yrs ago. How about Horseheads doing this. If you need to control the traffic try putting in more stop lights in this area.

There is NO concievable reason we need a roundabout in downtown Elmira !!! Very bad idea. We could spend the money for this useless project in much better ways, such as repaving our streets that badly need it !

Quit bowing down to Elmira College! The college pays no taxes, has ruined Elmira's Property Tax Base by purchasing entire city blocks and converting them to parking lots! Let's take care of our own people and local businesses! NO to this hideous roundabout!!

This is a very dangerous idea and very unnecessary. This is not a heavy traffic flow area. Not only will it hurt area businesses, there will be many accidents. Why would you even think this could be beneficial.???? Use that federal money to bring business to Elmira not to get rid of long standing tax paying businesses. Get your facts straight. Stop this now !!!!!

I live on Maple Ave. There are better traffic control devices than roundabouts.

I live in Ann Arbor, MI and we have roundabouts. They're ridiculous and unnecessary. Elmira is wasting taxpayer time and money by doing this. This is an asinine move if it's approved by Elmira. I was just home and the ones on Maple Ave on the Southside are irritating, laughable and should be removed. Elmira, you need to start thinking about the businesses in the area and not pushing them out by this idiotic move. Unless you are going to give the businesses in the area ample parking, signage as well as financial reimbursement for lost business due to your idiocy, I suggest you table this decision until you hear from ALL parties and not just your own grandstanding.

The roundabouts already in place on Maple Ave. are the main reason why I avoid Maple Ave. Now I'm stuck driving back ways with stop signs, but I'll still take that over stupid traffic circles where other drivers don't use turn signals or look for vehicles coming from a side street. If Elmira feels it needs to spend a ton of taxpayer money improving the city, why don't they try repairing a bridge or properly paving some roads. A pretty garden in the middle of the street will do nothing for my car's suspension.

I feel it's too confusing for some people and can cause accident s! I understand that area is heavy with traffic but to my knowledge has not caused any real problems.
