Roundabouts on Maple Ave do not deter people from speeding or allowing cars from side streets to enter any better because most people do not follow the rules. The roundabout in a 55 mph zone on rt13 is rediculous as well. Remove the redlight and add a two way stop. Rather then a roundabout here, perhaps close the road by Hilliard and Mcdonalds and open the road on the backside of McDonalds. The issue is only people leaving McDonalds area as there are rarely cars coming from the lil store across the street. Perhaps make traffic from Mcdonalds area a right turn only

Elmira having roundabouts is dumb!!!! The one they already have can't even fit a full size vehicle. You have to drive on it. It's not like you're talking about rte 13!!!! It is the city of Elmira!!! Worst idea ever!

I have never found roundabouts to be a safer way to handle an unusual traffic pattern. They often cause confusion, which in turn, causes accidents.

I use this intersection every day. A round about is unnecessary. Also having my own business in Elmira parking is essential. Our customers complain all the time there isn't enough parking that is in close proximity to the actual store. I think this is a terrible use of the resources we are being given. Please consider repairing the roads. What's happening on water street is a great example of good use of funds. Maybe consider doing that in other parts of the city

This is absurd. This roundabout will eliminate parking areas used by two (still) profitable businesses downtown.

I support Savino's and agree that the traffic circle will hurt their business and is unnecessary. We have to use the circle placed near Byrne Dairy coming off Rt 13 and see every day how people are clueless as to its use and race to cut off other drivers entering the circle. If Elmir puts one in near Savino's, there will be injuries or worse, especially with the number of Psych and mentally challenged individuals who reside in St. Patrick's Aprtments and add foot traffic to the area. This is yet another example of poor planning and unneeded spending.

Hey Elmira we don't need any more of these pointless roundabouts. This isn't London. Why not use the money for something practical like keeping more officers on the streets to protect the citizens or put the money toward the rapidly failing school system in the city?
