Tell Ministry of Defence to Take Colchester Middlewick ranges off the for sale list

Too many new housing estates being built in this area and not enough green land being kept.

The beautiful piece of land should be left as it is to preserve the habitats for the wide range of wildlife that live there some of which are very rare. How will the residents of these new builds get to there homes without using the already busy Mersea & Old Heath roads.. there just isn’t the info structure for another 1000 plus cars.

There are already too many developments in Colchester that has spoiled a lovely town

We have enough houses in colchester and NOT enough green space

Nightingales, skylarks, cuckoo, fritillary butterflies, grass snakes and all the other thousands of species on the wick. Please take it off the table to preserve them for your children and mine. Who cares which party is in power if the young people all get depressed and anxious because we show no regard for their future and destroy the few unspoilt areas around here. Young men and women in the army or in any profession, need good physical and mental health. Growing up with somewhere to play outside like the wick is a massive boost for kids health and independence. Knowing that the older generations were able to make long-term plans to protect our shared environment and not reach for the easy, exploitative options will help grow secure, confident and grateful young people. Please take this off the table for future generations in Colchester. Thank you for reading this and good wishes to you.

Colchester cannot cope with more houses, the roads are ridiculously busy and struggling to cope with the current residents. That's not even mentioning the doctors surgeries, hospital and schools...! Keep this green.

Please no house,too many as it is and not many green spaces left.

This is a green field area with significant wildlife habitation, used and enjoyed regularly by local residents, enhancing the welfare of the local population. This site does not have the infrastructure to support additional housing. Surely the MOD has brown field areas better suited for development?

So many species to see, middle wick has always been part of my life and hope future generations can be part of it as well

I grew up on the Birch Glen Estate and often used to cycle across the Wick to get to work. It was the best bit of my day, just chilling out while riding along. Can remember when there was just fields where the supermarket and houses are now. One morning I was late to work as I stopped at the field to watch a miracle of nature happen, as one of the horses that was in that field gave birth to her beautiful foal. The area that remains should not be built on, it should remain as nature intended. There are far too few green areas remaining in Colchester now, but this should definitely be one of them. I recently moved out of Colchester as I couldn't bare the noise, the constant traffic problems and the fact that the town is an ever growing concrete jungle. I don't regret my decision for one second. Good luck with your petition and I hope that sense prevails in the end.

The wick should be left as it is, a home to lots of wildlife and a beautiful area which plenty of people walk their dogs. This is definatly is not the right area to put lots of houses and people just think of the problems it would cause with traffic, extra children needing schools where there isnt enough room in the surrounding schools to fit all these extra children in and all the extra people in the surrounding shops would be too much as they would be overcrowded. Too many more people and cars around this area would just cause too many problems that havent been taken on board yet, this is a just a small area too add 1000 houses or more and all the extra people to this area. The area would become too overcrowded and the roads would become a total nightmare. Wildlife! Lots of the Wild Life would no longer be able to survive in the process of starting to build houses as their homes would be destroyed. They would habe nowhere to go on to and there are so many different animals that live over in the wick that come running though our estate in the night.

Not enough infrastructure to support this development. We need green spaces much more than London overspill.

I am fearful of gridlock in the area. Also the lack of s hool spaces and shortage of medical facilities, already overcrowded, will make for uncomfortable living in an already frenetic area.

I am fully against turning this field into houses. This is a field used by a lot of local people and a fresh air to everyone.

we're not some out of city slum for london we and our wildlife deserve to keep the little bit of green space we have left.

We desperately need green environmental spaces now more than ever. This needs to be one of those.

The infrastructure around Middlewick is unsuitable for the construction of houses. The "wick" has been enjoyed by generations for its diversity of wildlife both fauna and flora - some of which are endangered species. Please consider gifting this wonderful and much loved area to the people of Colchester.

I am deeply disappointed, you want to sell this site for housing. How much more can Colchester. The strain on the roads, NHS services and schools has already hit alarming levels. For people who live in the area would not care but Colchester community do. There is wildlife on the wick including deers as one shot past across me whilst walking through the wick. I hope you will come to your senses and make the wick a country park. Country park would be a great education for the children to learn about wildlife, trees and plants. They are our future.
