Very frustrating and discouraging to see good doctors and staff resigning because of decisions made at the higher levels of management and board.

In light of recent events online and whisperings around town I feel compelled to remind our region of past events and state some facts. I would like to exercise my rights as a patient in being curious as to what those rights are. I looked them up. BBAHC’s Patient Bill of Rights can be found on BBAHC’s web site at: www.bbahc.org • Patient Information • Patient Rights and Responsibilities The Patient Bill of Rights states as follows in the quotations: “We consider you a partner in your health care. You are the reason we exist.” I would like to point out the obvious here to the persons on the BBAHC board of Directors, BBAHC Executive Board and to the CEO, COO and CFO. Not only do we as patients make it so that BBAHC exists, our health care providers are also the reason BBAHC exists. BBAHC will still be there without the Doc’s, Pharmacists, Nurses etc. but not as a health care facility. You cannot provide health care without them. Not to mention without them, BBAHC, you wouldn’t generate any revenue. “We are here to serve the needs of patients/residents in the best manner possible. We will treat you with courtesy, dignity and respect your personal preferences and values.” It is my personal preference that BBAHC retain its current staff at our hospital. I value the current medical providers as I am confident they as a team provide the people of our region with the best possible health care. BBAHC has some of the best medical providers right now that we could ever hope for. I would like to remind everyone reading this and inform those of you that do not know that between the years of 2010-2014 BBAHC had a very similar situation happening. A lot of empl.oyees of BBAHC (good employees) were fired and a lot of good employees that just couldn’t take it anymore chose to go. It was impossible to get a visit with an actual full time Doctor of BBAHC as there were only a handful of them left. It was in my experience at the time that if you did go to the hospital, we were

The board doesn't seem to be paying attention to what is happening. Sometimes the board has to step in when no one seems ro be paying attention for the good and health of our people.

We believe in out youth and have many programs, scollarships for them to get degrees and experience to help our people into the future. We need to make sure that we have places and trades in our region for them to strengthen our people and culture!

Wake up people. Why is this happening? Bristol Bay Leaders claim they want their kids back and why do they do this? Young people like Evelyn go out, get educated with the assistance of Bristol Bay Native Corporation funding and then when they start to become a leader ‘bam’ they are gone! Shame on BBAHC sand Bristol Bay leaders for allowing this dysfunction to perpetuate. The region is dying - there’s nothing to attract people there — Evelyn stand your ground, your story needs to be told!

The Board needs to stand up and fight for our local people who have worked hard for their degrees. Also for all local workers who may not have degrees but are hardworking dedicated employees. Too often we see people from outside come make changes and move on leaving turmoil in their wake. Local people live here and have the communities best interest at heart. You, as the Board of BBAHC are all Alaskan natives from Bristol Bay. It seems it goes without saying that you would stand behind your local workers.

Unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. The board of directors needs to do their fiduciary duties and fight for the wants and needs of their people. Get rid of the power trippers and wanna be high and mighty out of towners that come into our region and make our health system worst and fail.

I would not have signed that statement either, nor would I have honored the "keep silent" order. Those two actions portray bad management practices.

BBAHC is an important organization for Bristol Bay. Why are employees and especially those from the region, folks that care; being fired instead of cultivated to remain in their job? It risks instability, and calls into question many other things.

I support this move, action to resind employees that were let go, for no apparent reason.

I have herd really nasty things about working at the hospital. I know that management is the number one force in making a work place hospitable and conductive. Poor management makes it hard for people to commit to their jobs and crates an environment for fear, in our small community fear should not be at the center of our values. Please take care of our care takers so they can better serve the region. We hate turn over!

I realize that people may have a lot of questions about what sparked this petition, and I want to share our story. In brief, Kane and I had approved leave to go to Nashville in September. Lecia disputed that his leave was approved, so Kane sent her a copy of the automated email he had received when she approved his leave, to demonstrate that this was a false claim. Later that day, Kane was fired over the phone as we drove home. He did not receive a warning, formal write up, or last chance agreement. When Kane was fired I stepped up to take the role of acting pharmacy director. After doing the job for about 4.5 months, which included a stellar annual review, it became very apparent that there was no intention of giving me the position full-time. I stepped down, giving the hospital the standard 10 day grace period during which they have the responsibility of finding a new pharmacist in charge. When they were unable to do this, the pharmacy was closed for 5 hours. Then, a little more than a week ago, I was told to sign an immediate suspension-without-pay letter. This letter stated that I was responsible for the pharmacy's brief closing and that I had personally endangered patient care. Additionally, while the matter was investigated, I would not be able to speak to anyone about it, including my own husband. I could not sign that letter, and I felt that my only option was to resign. I continue to appreciate everyone's support, as my goal is to return to BBAHC to work as a pharmacist and serve our region.

The people of our region depend on the compassion, commitment and cultural sensitivity that lifelong and long time resident providers and staff bring to our our hospital. Hearing of the loss of so many valued employees recently shows that there is an obvious disconnect between the decision making of certain members of the current administration and the needs of our community. We need our board to put a stop to the current downward spirial and to hold our administration accountable for any decline in access of care, quality of care, and lastly for any deteroriation of the trust and confidence of the people BBAHC is here to serve.
