Please support the cause to allow the children of Tanja public school to access the Tanja hall for minimal or no cost .The people of the Tanja community that originally planned and built the hall gave of their own time . Please try and maintain the usage costs to a minimum. Thank you

Community halls are for the community ..or should be. We have already lost affordable access to the Bega Town Hall...now this. Shame on Bega Shire Council bureaucrats. You need to be looking after community interests and assets, not making them locked boxes that can't be used by those who live closest to them.

Our children are an important part of our community. They are our future. Show them they count.

Community halls provide a space for all members of the community to congregate to. For children this is more often a meeting place, a safe space and a place to place indoor sports, games, art and craft. Making it unattainable via cost restrictions for the community it is there to serve is outrageous.

I'm outraged to hear of this! The local school, the community hall? , it should be free!

Why would you remove such a valuable resource from the reach of the school's budget? Schools function on very limited budgets they can not afford to support money grabbing ventures. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to take a look at the schools annual report and get a better perspective on how our schools are already under resourced and under funded.

Community resources that have been supported by the community for as long as this need to remain in the hands of the community to ensure fair, reasonably priced access. When control is removed from the community, the sense of community is destroyed and this is not recoverable.

Surely the hall is part of the local community as is the school. Fortunately communities don't run on a fee for service philosophy, in fact it is a good way to destroy community. It truly is bizarre that a small school is havingto take money out of its education budget to pay for what should be a community space. It also means the hall is lost to this part of the community. Where's the local spirit in that? Please reconsider this ridiculous impost and affront to a cohesive, coherent community.

The school and hall committee need to cooperate and get this fixed. The school is a big part of the community - it should not have to pay.

Good will, voluntry effort, and sense of comunity are hard to quantify, and I think this situation is a good example of mutually beneficial cohabitation, that should continue.

As a parent of children attending Tanja school it is a sad day when a community hall located adjacent to the school is made unavailable by being too costly for a small school to hire on a regular basis. As someone who has only been in the Bega Valley for 18months this situation appears like bureaucracy gone mad with a fair amount of pettiness thrown in. I can only assume the council and hall committee would prefer the hall sits unused than provide affordable access to students who as far as I can see predominately use only the space (not the kitchen, tables, etc) for drama. I think if the previous arrangement of the school maintaining the grounds in exchange for hall use is not adequate then at least an affordable option should be negotiated. The BVSC Community Strategic Plan found people wanted by 2040 to be a co-operative, kind and culturally rich community with with access to good quality recreation and sporting facilities. I'm not sure the situation of a small public school being priced out of utilising an adjacent community hall for drama once a week reflects well in any strategic sense.

What a joke!!!... Small schools like Tanja & Quaama who don't have their own school hall, should continue to get free use of their local hall!!! Here's your bloody community spirit, council????.
