I'd like to see more funds go to the schools, unfortunately we can't trust the school board to spend our dollars wisely, so I'd like mine back.

When I saw this article in the San Clemente Times I was so disturbed that I tried to find out who to call at the School Baord, but didn't get the info I needed. I'm glad others are stepping forward and doing something to fight this abuse of power.

Attend the CUSD school board meeting tomorrow night(Wed., Dec. 11th) at 7 p.m. to stop the deluge of taxes being charged. This fiscal year (2013-2014) Talega taxpayers will be charged $2 million in excess taxes over and above the amount required to service our Mello-Roos bonds. This has occurred from the Board refinancing our bonds (in 2006 and in 2013) and by increasing our payments at the 2% maximum each year required by law. If left unchanged, Talega residents will pay $60 million in excess over the life of the bond payments (until 2032)! These refinance savings should be passed onto the taxpayers in lower annual tax assessments or be used to pay down our bond debt, which would cut the time remaining on our Mello-Roos payments in half.

Thanks so much Chuck! Will you be at tomorrow night's meeting? Fortunately, we have had involvement by a CPA/Talega resident like yourself and believe me when I say, you CPA's are like Angels from Heaven! What is your email?
