We, the undersigned, urge both our elected and appointed local leaders to immediately address the dangerous lack of adequate and consistent police coverage on City Island. The personal safety of residents and visitors, the protection of homeowners' property, and the security of local businesses all require far more than merely occassional police visits or patrols. We are well aware of the City's budget problems. However, there is no priority higher than public safety, and we will no longer tolerate any excuses. This matter has been discussed and reviewed long enough. It is now time for our elected officials, community leaders, and NYPD staff to fulfill their responsibilities and resolve this problem.
