I agree with this letter..it is time to stop all this nonsense and start protecting our cities and communities from these people who just come in and take. The takers don't care what lives they ruin in the process and they laugh and get away with it. When someone can walk into a Safeway store and fill their cart with food and walk out without paying and the store doesn't have any recourse since it won't do a bit of good to have them arrested they will be out within a couple of hours laughing and mostly likely try to harm anyone that came against them. When some goes to a nice restaurant and they come out and their car is in the process of being stolen, and the two victims tell him to stop and he SHOOTS at them..there is something wrong. We used to have a very family oriented community where your kids would be safe, but not anymore. We need to start changing the laws back to protect 'we the people'!

Our city has changed so much since these two laws have passed that it is unrecognizable. I consider Jerry Brown to be the true criminal. He had robbed us all of our rights.

We all really do live in fear. Do you even have a clue as to how having your only car stolen can destroy your life or being robbed of the things you have worked your whole life to obtain. Maybe it is time that you come down to our level and try to understand the devastation that we are experiencing. You come from a wealthy family and know nothing of our struggles to keep what is most precious to us. The safety of our families. Constant fear is no way to live. It keeps you awake, it keeps your stomach in knots and it seeps into everything you do. We can't enjoy our parks and trails because they have been taken over by drug users and violent criminals. Needled syringes lay everywhere. Human feces and garbage litter our forests. Criminals are given citations for serious crimes. We have no room in our jail to house any criminals. This forces the judges to OR the bad guys. They are free to commit more crime within hours of being arrested. The crimes that they commit are against us, the people that you vwed to stand up for. I believe that you have failed miserably at the job your were elected to do. I am thoroughly disappointed in myself for voting for you and in you for turning your back on us.

Disgusting we have to live like this. I am affluent and choose to be here because I believe Redding has the bones to be an amazing city and hub of northern California! It saddens me to no end to see the transients in this town destroying it. Saddens me to that we are the dumping ground for your parolees that obviously haven't learned their lesson. It's amazing to see so many heroine addicts running amuck in this community and we, the people, are powerless to do anything about it; mostly due to you dumping your garbage in our community! You should be ashamed! I would like to give you a mental picture. Imagine your mom or dad needing a nursing home. Every single nursing home in this town is close to the drug infested neighborhoods or close to the river (which, by the way, is where your homeless drug addicts end up due to your "catch and release program")! The caring employees are scared to walk to their cars in the day time, let alone in the dark! Imagine your loved one in a facility and the transients walk in whenever they want, use the facilities, take belongings that don't belong to them, or abuse your loved one? Guess what? It is a reality! I'm a Director of Nursing services, and have been 4 years in this town. I lived in the Bay area doing the exact same job, and never once felt unsafe like I do here! I feel more safe in Stockton when I have to go to meetings! My staff have had their cars broken in to, harassed going to and from work, and subject to needles and shanks on the ground; even better yet, chasing off the homeless heroine addicted person from hiding in the bushes or digging through a garbage completely filled with human waste due to briefs. You cannot go to the park RIGHT NEXT TO THE PUBLIC LIBRARY because of the homeless urinating, defecating, running naked, and having sex in the park. The Safeway had to close their doors at midnight on Cypress due to losing so much product. You have cost this community jobs! You cannot go to Walm

An 83-year-old woman was recently attacked, hit in the back of the head and then beat while she was down. Something has to be done to take back Redding from these thugs, yet our community "leaders" ignore our requests for help. Hardworking, law-abiding family people are fed up. Please help.

I grew up in Redding, I was always proud of that. Now when I tell people I grew up in Redding they say " Oh I sm sorry to hear that'. The crime is aweful there". It seems I continuously hear about drugs, robberies, violent crime against those who cannot defend themselves. It is sickening. Its time we take back our town!!! Restore it to the place I remember and be able to say we are proud to be a part f this beautiful community!!!

Last night another freak broke into neighbors house. Trashed drywall and ripped up carpets. Tweekers !! Low risk offenders ?!?! ... What risk is low ??? The fact they weren't home is their only blessing.
