What happens if I leave my phone at home one day? How the hell do I access my hokiespa to take a pop quiz on Canvas? What if my phone breaks and I need to get a replacement? This is a flawed, stupid system that makes no practical sense.

2FA contradicts the basic principles of how electronic devices should work and be used. The university is doing this solely for its own interest. Maybe we should ask instead, why are attackers targeting virginia tech, not some other places on the web. The virginia tech email has been dysfunctional for so long and they never made a public statement about it.

It would be better if we were allowed to have more than one device connected to the authentication app.

I do not have a smartphone. The system has to either call or text me to authenticate my log in. Too often, my phone is dead, I leave my phone at my apartment, or (the most common) I don't have signal in my classroom and I can't access the powerpoint/online quiz/anything without leaving the building in the middle of lecture.

I broke my phone and now I am missing a quiz. This is not practical.
It's not user friendly
