31 states have no laws that bar rapists from seeking custody or visitation rights. The 31 states where rapists can sue for custody and/or visitation are: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming. Laws protecting victims and their children must be put in place. This should be the victim's choice not the perpetrator of a horrific, despicable act.

The feedback received thus far confirms that many individuals across these states are unaware of these legal gaps. I am currently reaching out to policy experts to understand the specific hurdles to legislative reform in each jurisdiction.

I cant even wrap my head around the fact that this is currently legal in so many places. think of the kids and the trauma they would have to go through. horrible.

it is insane that this is even a debate. how can a rapist have any rights to a child born from his crime?? absolute madness.
