Take action and help promote SUNY Buffalos Tobacco Policy
Are you tired of going into Capen or other campus locations and breathing in second hand smoke because large clumps of people are clogging the walkway at the door? Do you think it is right for us students to deal with this? Second hand smoke is not healthy for people and it does not clean the air. The University at Buffalo is supposed to be a smoke free campus. Apparently it is not. I understand that some people do smoke and no one can force them to quit. However, it should not have to affect other people who do not want to breathe in tobacco. It is impossible to have a smoke-free campus because UB has such a large campus and it would be too much for one to go into their car drive off campus to go for a smoke break and then come back to campus for class. It is too much of a hassle. I believe that the best possible solution for this issue if to have designated smoking areas on campus. These areas are near highly populated smoking areas such as near Capen, however they are not in high traffic areas near doors. It is imperative for both smokers and non-smokers to weigh in on a solution because non-smokers will not be happy if the campus is completely smoke free and vice versa. If you agree with me and would be interested in this issue, both smokers and non-smokers please sign this petition.
