Tails on Trails Leash-Free

Support Hiking with Your Dog Off-Leash on Eugene Trails

The purpose of this petition is to demonstrate to the Eugene City Parks & Open Space Department strong support for hiking natural trails with our dogs leash-free.

This summer the Eugene Parks & Open Space staff is collecting community input as part of a Parks & Recreation System Planning process. They will be asking Eugene residents for input on everything from Aquatics to Mountain Biking through on-line surveys, workshops and "pop-up" events throughout the summer. This provides us with a perfect opportunity to prove local interest and support for trails where you can hike with your dog off-leash.

Please add your name to the petition! Plus, this site offers a comment section where you can post your ideas and suggestions, for example; recommend specific hiking trails for dogs off-leash or specify off-leash hours or odd/even days, etc.

We need your help getting the word out! Please spread the word and petition link via Facebook and other social media outlets, leave information with your veterinarian and dog day-care center and email to friends who would be interested in supporting this effort!

The petition will be sent to Eugene City Parks & Open Space and will not be used for any other purpose other than to provide documentation from local residents a need, desire and strong support for Eugene Trails for off-leash Tails.

The Eugene City Parks and Open Space Department is stalling while they decide if our dogs deserve access to these trails. Do not let them bury this in a mountain of surveys and endless committee meetings.

I would love to have an area that would allow my dog to hike with me off leash. I recently moved here, and in my past experiences from my home state, off leash sites are very attractive to tourists. I would travel 100 miles to be able to hike off leash, as well as other hikers that I would encounter. Thank you for the consideration.

I recently moved here and was shocked to find that there are no off leash trails. Off leash parks yes. But no off leash trails. Please open some up. I come from a town thst had several and it worked really well.

Wonderful Initiative! I think the Fox Hollow trail head system would be a great place for this. Allowing dogs off leash from like 7am-2pm Monday-Thurs would be great. The trail is less busy and really its pretty much the same group of people and dogs. The loop provides a great spot for dogs to run.

Please support this initiative! As an avid user of the Ridgeline Trail system and a dog lover I know that having designated off lead trails, times or days would benefit many members of the community...not just those who love dogs! With designated trails, days or hours we can work towards a safer more transparent trial system for all!

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I understand that some dogs are NOT under voice control and should not be off leash, but some of us have very well behaved dogs and being on a leash on trail is a trip hazard for runners and bikers.

It would be great to have a "official" area, path or times when dogs could be off-leash on trails. I'm not a huge fan of small fenced dog parks where the focus is just with playing with other dogs. I'd love the option of an off-leash trail to take my pups.

I support this petition. I feel dogs are excluded from a lot of places for no good reason.

We have two large dogs that love to romp and run with some degree of freedom. Leash free zones would be greatly appreciated by both the dogs and the owners!!!!
