Currently, TABC employs a rule that a student may only participate on a maximum of two academic teams at a time. Additionally, in order to be on two teams, the student must maintain an overall grade point average of 85. We, the undersigned, request that the administration allow students to participate on as many teams as they would like.
The reason for this rule is to ensure that students are not overwhelmed by the amount of work that comes along with being on an excessive number of teams. We maintain that a student should be granted the freedom to participate on as many teams as he would like, while fully aware that they are taking on the burden of extra work. The STUDENT should have the right to judge whether he is capable of handling this work. We do concede that in order to ensure that the student keeps up with schoolwork, he should be required to maintain a grade point average of 85.
total overkill. why punish the kids who are actually motivated to do something with their time? keep the gpa rule but stop capping the activities. let them learn time management for themselves

this is so dumb. let the kids decide how much they can handle. my son missed out on robotics just cause he did debate. let them do both if they can keep the grades up.
