As part of Labour's budget cuts for Leeds, Middleton leisure centre's swimming pool will be closed in September 2011. They will keep the dry facilities, such as pitches and courts, running and will be investing more money in these facilities. What is the point in keeping a leisure centre open without a swimming pool, that many of us use or most importantly our children use, whether it be via swimming lessons or school. This swimming pool is local and within walking distance for many of us, the alternatives are Rothwell, John Charles or Morley, which will already be over subscribed by their local residents.
