The city finally admitted they were wrong and approved the construction of the skate park. They tried to stall us for years but our pressure forced their hand. We won this fight and now we need to watch them closely to make sure they actually break ground.

Final supporters
I know people in this town who have requested a skatepark in this town for over ten years an it still has not happened. The city has even raised money to build ...one. According to anonymous sources people in charge of the funds are debating on building a water park or a skate park with the funds. There is a city ordinance in this town saying you can not ride your bike, scooter. skateboard, etc on any road or public sidewalk or any place of business. This seems a little unfair and discriminating to members of the community who like to participate in those kinds of activities because there is no designated area (skate park) for them to do them at. The ordinance would be more probable if there was a place for these activities to be legally. The town already has a pool, basketball courts, football fields, baseball fields and so on. Why cant it have a skate park as well?

The momentum behind this push proves Sweetwater officials cannot keep ignoring us while they sit on our funds. They have run out of excuses to keep us off the pavement when they refuse to build the facility we were promised.

It's time this town provided more than just gamerooms. A skatepark would be a great addition to our community. Basketball courts also need to be upgraded and parks need major renovations. Our pool also needs to reopen soon. If you want the community to shop locally and keep paying taxes etc than give us something in return.
This would give another group of young people something to do. Come on community, get behind this one. We even have a dog park! Surely we can work to get a skate park!
THis would be an amazing thing to do for our youth. As someone that graduated SHS a lot of my friends would skate on the school grounds and then that got banned. This would be something for our older youth to enjoy and keep them busy.
My son was a skater died by a hit and run driver while on his skateboard at the age of 21 almost 5 yrs ago although this happened in San Angelo tx he was born and raised here in sweetwater and I always wanted to build one in his memory but didn't know how to go about it # Joe Carlis Lope,
We need a skate park in Sweetwater, me and my friends have been skating around town for awhile now, but we keep getting kicked out of certain areas.
Yeah we aren't THAT tiny. We can have a skatepark like any other town!
Tony Hawk foundation can help with grant money for the skatepark.

A skate park in SW would kick ass and I wouldve loved to have one when I was a kid. Instead we had rookie cops trying to arrest us for skating at the HS, like we were tearing anything up anyways.
