Sweetwater Launch

Here is some backstory on what happened: Two weekends ago, we were driving up to launch and ran into a ranger that stopped us. He told us as of that moment that spur road was now closed to all vehicular traffic. His reason was that it is not designated on the USFS maps and it is not a thru-road. He proceeded to plant the "road closed" sign immediately after. He said that his unit was in the process of finding and closing down all these spur roads in a conservation effort. After a short conversation with him and educating him on the importance and historical significance this site is for free flyers, he opened up to having us file a petition with the USFS through him. He was not committing to anything but he gave us some hope that we may be able to get an exemption for recreational purposes. This is an incredibly scenic site with big thermals and lots of XC potential. It's loss will be missed.
