You are being taxed for owning your own roof. Have you heard the new tax you have to pay on your house? Likely not. Laramie City Council determined when it rains your house makes more run off than the streets can handle. Their solution? A monthly tax based on the size of your roof and driveways. Furthermore, you might be blindly over-taxed from poor city assessment.
By signing this petition you agree in telling the city council you disagree with the run off tax for your home and would like them to repeal their tax.
If the council would like to make housing affordable, wouldn't they reduce taxes on housing?

I own open land in City Limits. Does that mean I get a credit? This is a transference of poor fiscal management to the taxpayer and is grossly unacceptable. Whoever dreamed this scheme up should render their resignation forthwith.
They should cut costs elsewhere before adding more revenue
This seems to intrusive and very poor way to tax the citizens of Laramie. When no one has control over rain. Let alone it doesn’t rain much in the state let alone Laramie.
Repeal this tax!!
Only agree that if I contribute to the storm water, that a fee should be charged. If I keep my water, no charge.
Taxes are lame!
While we do have an issue with storm drains, there must be a better way to pay for it. Perhaps DOGE'ing the City budget would help.

They should have built streets with drainage! I went on a walk this week and my road does not have and storm drains on it. It’s ridiculous that a small rain can cause flooding here where other towns can have tropical storms with less flooding. These other towns also have tons of homes with roofs. Seems like the issue is not our roofs but their poor design and preparation for rain.
