We, the undersigned, believe that Shawn Brant, spokesperson from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, should be released from jail and have all current criminal charges against him stayed. Given unresolved land claims, polluted drinking water, overwhelming poverty and suicide rates in First Nations communities across this country, we believe it should come as no surprise when First Nations people create physical impediments to halt the extraction of resources and wealth from their land. Therefore, we believe that First Nations peoples have the right to refuse to live in these conditions and that the exploitation of their land should cease.
I just looked at the screen and saw the number five hundred staring back at me and honestly my hands are shaking a bit because I really did not think this would move so fast. It is just wild to see so many people actually paying attention to what is happening with Shawn and the land, and it makes me think maybe we have a real shot at being heard now.

The numbers are really starting to move now and it honestly feels like we might actually get some eyes on this if we just keep this momentum going. We need to hit that next goal before things settle down so please just blast this link out everywhere you can while I try to figure out the next step.

Its honestly shameful that he is locked up for fighting for clean water. Cant believe this is happening in 2014.

Keep locking up the people who actually care about the land and see how far we get. Total joke.

This is ridiculous. Shawn is just standing up for his people while the government ignores everything else.
