In a country where 85% of the population is of African descent this is such a poor reflection of who we are as a people. After so many years slavery's effect continue to haunt our ideologies, perceptions and self worth . Hopefully this situation will enlighten and free those who remain mentally enslaved. We must support and show our love and appreciate of our "blackness."... our kinky hair, our thick lips, our dark skin. To thine own self be true!!

Our school need to focus on the national grade average instead of the students hair. Back in the day they were upset about weave abd encouraged students to wear our natural hair. Now its completely backwards.

This is an example of Bahamians falling prey to the anti Black construct left grafted into our subconscious. Bahamians no longer believe in Bahamians and are more comfortable with the design of our former captors. We hire foreign consultants and management groups. When last have you seen a Government school with Androsia Print uniform if only to boost Bahamian Business? We buy everything foreign and leave our things including Music to languish in the Stockholm Syndrome we cherish. It is sickening and destroying the vibrant predominant Black culture that once thrived on these precious Islands in the Stream. The Barefoot Bandit was right by the way. Who wants to wear shoes in Paradise? I support the Puff!!!

My skills, my drive and my abilities are NOT the direct result of how I wear my hair. And we should never seek to encourage this close-mindedness in the people who will become the ones to bring change to our nation. For if they accept this self-hate- born from our history as slaves yet veiled under the guise of 'looking out for our future'- then what hope does our future truly have?
