i think afro hair is beautiful and should be celebrated. My daughter who is white with straight hair would give anything to be able to have an afro. Black women should not have to change their hair to conform. Their hair is what it is and is beautiful at that.

So much wrapped up here.
- Rivers of tears by little girls wanting to have there hair 'out' like white friends
- damaging chemicals used for decades to straighten and tame
- being told bed head for whites is sexy but combed hair for blacks is raw
- being called 'brillo' 'wire-wool' and 'cloudy' till you're so embarrassed you wear a wig
Come on - it's only natural !!

I am speechless! How dare this teacher denigrate this student's natural hair. Does she not understand what Black/Afro, un-straightened hair actually looks like? It doesn't lie 'smooth', it stands up. This does not mean it is unruly or uncombed. This teacher really needs to educate herself. She is shaping young minds!

Diversities in hair, color, height, size make us all more human. Rejecting the diversity because of ignorance is rejecting a part of the human conscious. Accepting the diversity is recognizing the seamless dimension of the humankind.

I support this petition not only because the the damage that black women cause their hair by hiding it,
I think that any one should be proud of their roots, ethnics and race. Others should embrace diversity.
