No one has the right to tell anyone how to wear their hair!!! What is wrong with people!! I transitioned 2 years ago and it was the best decision I could have ever made!! If I would've known then what I know now, I would've done this along time ago!! Perms aren't for everyone, but because I was caught up in what people thought was acceptable, I continued to perm my hair. But we all have to sometimes learn the hard way. Let these girls rock their hair the way they want!! If they decide later in life that they want to try a perm, then let it be their choice not because someone thinks natural is not appropriate!! Naps is what God blessed us with, and if He is ok with it, then everyone else should be as well!! I'll be praying for all that are involved, especially the schools administration!!

I am a proud Black, elderly women sporting a grey, natural bush (puff) that I have worn for years and get many compliments on it every time I go out.
In Philadelphia and all over the world, I see that there is a resurgent of Black women and men, young and old, wearing their hair "natural" again and it looks simply beautiful.
Tayjha Deleveaux, the student who was suspended from the C.R. Walker Sr. High School in Nassau, Bahamas by her principal, T. Nicola McKae, hair looked like a very nice, and neat puff on the web! Since I was not there, I cannot comment on what the principal disagreed with, but I will say: I LOVE THE PUFF!!! And, it should be worn with PROUD!

There doesn't have to be a court precedent set before acting in the interest on this student's behalf. A lawsuit is a nasty affair and I'd hate to see the children lose money needed for education not to mention lost tourism dollars to the islands from a boycott.

This simple-minded, racist, backwards Principal needs to be fired ... How dare she belittle a child! I am sure if we saw a picture of her, we could find something to criticize and belittle her about. Does he/she have children? If so, then pose the question about their parents comment to them. What do they think of the horrible ugly hurtful words their parent said to another child. Oops, parent probably degrades her own children and/or family too. This principal's comments make me so upset. I'm a high school teacher and the last time I put chemicals in my hair was 2003! So please tell that principal to stop being "mean" and "insecure". She has deeply wounded this child for life and should be sued to pay for her life time counseling sessions.
Please tell your daughter that she is BEAUTIFUL AND AN AMAZING YOUNG LADY!!!!!!

We are black and the students should be able to wear their hair the way they want to. Wearing our hair natural is from our culture. And your school is being racist against our culture of being african american. We don't wear weird colors in our hair. You allow other races wear there hair in different colors and hairstyles. Which it needs to change.
