Our family looks forward to the festivals every year. It helps to reinforce what a "happening" place Monkland is. Please bring it back!

As a resident in the area I truly appreciate the festival as a way to get out on a relaxed summer evening. I do hear the music from my house but it is only a handful of nights per year. The second festival in 2016 reduced noise from generators - that made it more pleasant while walking around. So even though driving, buses and parking is more of a challenge it is more than offset by the community atmosphere of the event. I have tried out Monkland merchants and restaurants during the events and shopped or ate there later. It is clear from the crowds that many people enjoy the events. It is too bad that the vocal minority can't adapt for 6-8 days per year and let people enjoy.

The Monkland street fest is so amazing and fun and I am incredibly disappointed that it wouldn't be happening this year due to "noise".

Communities need these types of festivals to ensure people stay connected and have face to face encounters - otherwise there will just be solitude and no support system for anyone.

Our community needs more of these gatherings... this is what NDG is about..... very disturbing to see the Monkland Festivals disappear....

The festivals were made to be a positive thing for the whole community, its a shame such a small group of negative people had to ruin it and slander such an amazing FREE to the public event. Bravo for speaking up!

I look forward to the Monkland Street Fest every year - especially for the Food Trucks! However, there have been concerns about noise levels which I can understand and would like to see addressed. Kudos to the organizers for putting Monkland Village on the map!

delete Feb 23, 2017 I am not against festivals if they are respectful to the environment, pollution, noise etc Whatever we decide to do in the future we should keep this in mind. - have a water bottle filling station to avoid plastic water bottle pollution - we have many musicians in Montreal, talk to the Porchfest people, they have 2 days worth of musicians - I know for a fact that there are many local farmers that live in NDG that would also like to participate - Get the schools involved, I am sure the kids would have wonderful ideas - Local artists - it's the 365 anniversary, let's think about the NDG history. My experience with the past festivals felt more like I was on a very tacky boardwalk. Let's be more creative shall we?

Monkland Street Festival (both of them) are fabulous, enjoyable and everyone has a great time shopping, fooding out, the concerts, the doggie event. Why would anyone not want to enjoy this wonderful festival? It certainly does not harm any business on the street as everyone does a little of everything! KEEP THE FEST GOING!!!! Maureen Roth

I enjoy the festivals, and encourage residents of other neighborhoods to come and join us! They are great weekends for NDG - businesses get more exposure and we can show off our 'hood as a lively and desirable place to live and work. Maybe a few changes to make the unhappy people feel better - but let's negotiate and keep the festivals!!

These are great festivals and I believe we should keep them. I participate every year and support them.

These are fun festivals and relatively harmless. They can be modified to be better. Perhaps the STM could divert the 103 and 162 to Terrebonne instead of Somerled. Enough NDG NIMBYism!
