Support elementary foreign language programs in Fairfax County Public Schools

Do not cancel this program! There is already limited number Japanese speaking Americans and we need a future generation of Japanese speakers to continue relations with what will always be one of the world's strongest economies.

My son went to Great Falls Elementary and joined Japanese Immersion Program. I would be so sad if the program is not continuing. I strongly support this program to be on for kids future.

Learning a second language, as well as learning about another culture in the process, has been invaluable in my career. The skills of understanding respecting and intetacting with another culture are broadly applicable to all cultures and have been instrumental to my success in developing and fostering successful international and multiunational collaborations throughout my scientific career. The monetary savings that would be achieved by cutting these programs is insignificant relative to the future economic and national security benefits to the Unoted States.

I strongly support this important program, so please don't stop it.

Baseball, Sushi, Cherry tree....a lot of commonalities of US & Japan. Kids will be connected more than ever by learning languages each other! Let have kids stay connected !

Japanese language is not only practical for learning its culture and science but is also the most powerful tool for training young brains.

I hope the Japanese language program should be maintained because the program would expand kids' opportunities.

Please keep the Japanese immersion class! It is such a wonderful course giving students valuable experience.

Exposing children to multiple languages allows them to have better tools for learning languages for the rest of their lives, and exposes them to the idea of being "global citizens" at a young age.

Learning a second language at a young age is so important. The younger children start to learn, the better they learn.

My daughters thanked warm friendship during their stay in US with American friends, who are interested in Japan and Japanese culture. Please reconsider cutting these programs.

I began learning Japanese in third grade and now use it professionally. Please continue language programs, especially Japanese, in Fairfax County.

I grew up and went to school in Fairfax county and always wished that my school had these kind of immersion programs. Language immersion is the ideal way to learn a language, a critical skill in this age of globalization. Please reconsider cutting these essential language programs.

To be successful in global society, each American need to speak at least two languages. Learning other languages foster the understanding of other society and every student has potential of doing so. FCPS must support the foreign language program.

It is an important thing for children to have a second language under their belts, especially now given the growing globalization that is occurring. Even more important than that is for the students to be able to learn a language in the most natural and simplest way possible. Don't cut the immersion programs.

I'm signing because I did Spanish immersion in FCPS and I learned so much at such a young age. I believe kids should learn a second language early in life, they soak up information like a sponge and language is a valuable tool. The more languages one knows, the better and further they can communicate with people.
