Please don't destroy children's opportunity to learn not only different languages, but how to respect and embrace different cultures and perspectives. This is truly what we need in America right now.

We should really save this program that gives so many valuable lessons to students who would otherwise not be exposed to foreign languages in early age.

The U.S. and Japan share a rich history of political, cultural and economic ties. Japan is the third largest economy in the world and a leader in global trade. It is absolutely crucial that U.S. students are afforded the opportunity to continue to learn Japanese.

Out daughter has been taking Japanese for 12 years in Fairfax. I hope that younger students will continue to have the opportunity to learn Japanese to the IB/AP level as well. The program is not just about the language but about the culture; fostering curiosity as well as tolerance about different cultures. It is critical that language education start in the early years ESPECIALLY because so many are becoming insular and close-minded.
