Support elementary foreign language programs in Fairfax County Public Schools

At present, all important countermeasure for a political, ecomonical and cultural matter for all coutries in the world is to foster the capable persons in the grobalization. The immersion program is one of the most important curriculum for US in the future.

Intercultural understanding via languages is crucial for the nation and future adults to succeed in the rapidly changing world. I support FCPS's FLES.

This program is an asset not only for Fairfax County but also the United States of America. Please keep this program!!

My children are Japanese Emersion Program graduates. Most of the JEP classmates are not Japanese origins, but adventurous enough to try something different. Children have established the lifelong friendship through the JEP tie to Japan and Japanese culture. Now these children are adults and future of USA. They are much better positioned to help US to lead the world issues not limited to Japanese issues. What other ways there to bridge two countries into the future where two countries are very different and at the same time share many common interests?

Immersion program is very important for the diversity. We should bring up our children in multi cultural environment.

The immersion program in Fairfax county is well known for playing an important role in our community and should not be discontinued.

Immersion program is a symbol of beautiful diversity in this county, in Virginia, and in the US, which we all are proud of.

Foreign language education is critical to start at a young age. Don't take away the opprtunity.

I'm just finishing up a semester abroad in Japan, and I can say that speaking to someone in their native language is such a fun and amazing experience; it gives you the abilty to talk to amazing people you never would have thought you could, and gives you a wider perspective on the world and the people around you. We need more programs like this. Keep up the good work!

Learning Japanese earlier is sooo much better than waiting until later!

As a father of two kids who go to Chesterbrook ES, I strongly support and wish for continuation of foreign language programs in Fairfax County Public Schools.

I support the continuation of the foreign language programs in the Fairfax County Public Schools because it promotes understandinand appreciation of other cultures which is critical in today's international environment.

It's a meaningful program. I believe that learning foreign culture fosters understanding of and tolerance for others and helps to get rid of bigotry and prejudice.

All children in the U.S. need to learn how to learn a foreign language. Let's make them expert language learners and they will next be outstanding global citizens. Fairfax County has always been held up as a stellar example of having the vision to support language immersion for children at a young age. Continue your mission!

It is my believe that FCPS should keep elementary foreign language immersion program that does not exit otherwise in any other forms where children can experience other language in public elementary level. I believe that studying foreign language expands vision in many area in our life. Losing the elementary foreign language is greater than saving money in our public school system. Thank you.

The immersion programs in Fairfax have been critical to the linguistic proficiency of many Virginia students who enroll at the University of Maryland to become minors or majors in the Japanese language.
