Praying for Coach O and his family. I’m so sorry you all are going through this. There are some serious issues with many who are making decisions for our school district. I used to brag about LSR7, now I pray for our Teachers and Children as it’s not the same to be a part of now. So sad.

Joe has always taught with compassion, empathy, and devoted a serious effort to connect with ALL students.

I’m not from LS, but I live here now. Joe seems like the type of guy I want to keep in my community. Can’t say I’d say the same for the superintendent though.

This is our 1st year in the Lee's Summit school district and I find the lack of reasoning from this superintendent very concerning. I support the teacher and find this ridiculous!

Joe Oswald coached my boys in the late 90’s . Outstanding man of character. It would be a shame if we lost this fine man .

Do the right thing, restore this man's great name and do NOT permit him to be fired. He's the epitome of what a coach and teacher should be!

This is political crap as usual! We now allow students that are in violation of school rules to use the system against good and dedicated teachers. No wonder we have such crappy teachers who do not care about our children or what they teach them!

As a long-standing Lee’s Summit resident and tax payer to the Lee’s Summit School District, I find the charges against Mr. Oswald unfounded and offensive to his reputation as an excellent long term educator in the Lee’s Summit School District. I do no support his firing.

They’re making it hard for anyone to want to go into teaching. Joe is a good man- and my son (former FB player, coached by him) has nothing but good things to say about him.

What an atrocity - the school district leadership as well as the way this was handled. Joe Oswald was my son’s PE Coach and my son still talks about life lessons he learned (on top of PE activities) from Coach Oswald. He’s in his 20’s. Having a wife as an educator, the mark of an excellent teacher is best found in the stories and lessons remembered by former students. This man has changed the lives of so many kids - because he loves what he does. It sure as heck isn’t for the money. How about the district demonstrate character like you want the teachers to teach and exemplify in our schools? For a district that claims it’s a “Community of Character,” this whole situation screams, “Just kidding. What’s character?” Do the right thing. Hold the kid and parent accountable who lied and called for his job (since when do 13-year olds hold the power to take the lifelong career of a good man)? Let Coach O keep his job, and use this as a way to teach a district-wide way of doing things (in regards to filling out an office referral).

Please get this right LSR7 board!! Context and character DO matter! I pray you don’t use Coach O and this situation as an example for future platforms. Please protect our students, and the district’s future, by supporting amazing teachers and leaders like Coach O!

Joe Oswald is an honorable man, husband, father, teacher, and coach! Someone that did his job and is now being punished for it because you have a superintendent with no backbone or knows the difference between right and wrong. My only hope is that the school board has the guts to do what is right! Prayers for God’s direction.

Coach O taught/coached my 3 kids. He was always very professional and my kids loved him. This whole thing is crazy. He was following proper procedure by reading back to the student what she said to make sure he had it correct before turning it in. He didn’t just out of the blue say that word to a student.
