As a black man, I find this hard to believe. I was taught and coached by Mr. Oswald and never had any racial conflicts or disrepair from him. To hear of this pains me and I hope it can be overturned.

Coach O is a great coach and educator. I was lucky and blessed to have him coach me in my early years in high school. I would not be who I am and where I am without him.

I’ve known Joey, Joe, Coach O, for over forty years. He was my classmate, team mate and he is my friend. This man is the definition of character, he is and should be the standard that all teachers/coaches should measure themselves by. He does everything the right way in all aspects of his life and career and he always will. It is truly unbelievable to me to hear anything different than what I know to be true about Coach O.

For decades Coach Joe Oswald has faithfully prepared students for success in school and life. Anyone who has watched him teach and coach, as I have, has seen firsthand his respect and acceptance of each student. Joe is open and honest. He models integrity. Joe’s caring and creativity consistently help students to set and meet learning goals. His enthusiasm and excitement help him build positive relationships with every student. Joe is an ideal teacher; he lives the District’s Mission and Vision every day. And the Lee’s Summit School District should recognize that.
