I love this town. I love this school district. I attended LSR7 from K to 12. All 3 of my kids did the same. That said...If this isn’t corrected...if Joe is not immediately reinstated to his former position, it will not only be a catastrophic loss to the kids of LS, but an act of administrative cowardice and vulgarity that may damn well be irredeemable. Stop this nonsense and act like adults - not frightened, capitulating children.

My boys are 38 and 40, both had Coach Oswald... excellent mentor, educator and so enjoyed his students.. This is a travesty!

I am a resident and registered voter in the LSR7 School District. The recent action taken by the Administration in this District, against a most dedicated, trustworthy and beloved teacher, coach and student mentor, is appalling and disgraceful—not only to the District, but to its teachers, coaches and other staff at every school within the District.
Joe Oswald, fondly called Coach O, is a 27 year veteran of the District and a 29 year veteran of the teaching profession in the State of Missouri. He is GOODNESS and he gives GOODNESS to others! I do not know how the Administration can possibly think their decision to terminate him is fair, right and just for all concerned!
WAKE UP EVERYONE in the LSR7 District your school leaders are taking our school system DOWN! Please plan to attend the Public Hearing on June 23, 5p at the Tony Stansberry Leadership Center to support ALL teachers, coaches and other staff that give their hearts to teaching, coaching, mentoring and caring for our children.

It has been 12 years since I had the pleasure of being coached by Coach O, and to this day I remember his passion, his goofy approach, and his serious love for the students and the sports he coached.

I have known Joe Oswald his entire life. He is a good man, a man of integrity. He has dedicated his life to teaching and mentoring our youth. Joe is a caring man who is always there to lend a hand. He is a shining example of what an educator should be. Joe is a winner, unfortunately the losers are the students and families of the Lee’s Summit School District.

He was one of most supportive and amazing teachers I had. In Middle School, as my family was going through a rough period, I could always count on him to make me feel better, just by how he treated myself and others. Any school would be lucky to have him.

As a retired teacher of the LSR7 School District I continue to be embarrassed by the actions of our administrators at central office. BIST has been adopted by the LSR7 school district. You don't pick and choose who you interview, you interview ALL parties involved. Get a backbone. Support your teachers. Period. If Joe Oswald leaves the district you have lost one of the best.

I worked with Coach Oswald for 21 years and never saw anything, but genuine care and compassion for his students, athletes and coworkers. A true teacher of character you would want your child to experience in their educational years.

Starting middle school during COVID was extremely stressful for many students, our son included. Coach Oswald checked in on our son by email and by phone to ensure he wasn’t getting “lost” with all that was going on. His dedication to the students is above and beyond. We have experienced nothing but the highest level of morals and support from Coach Oswald.
