Has impacted so many kids lives including mine. Learned that having good Character as a man, as an athlete, and as a human being was taught thru him and the coaching staff at my HS. Not only was it taught by words, but it was shown by him thru actions.

Joe has always been a respectful, kind person. He cares about his students/athletes and is a top notch teacher and coach. I worked with him in district athletic position.

No way this happened!! Joe is a very high character person and in no way is that type of behavior from him even imaginable!! After 43 years in education I have never met a better person than Joe Oswald!! I'm sure a much better person than the person making these accusations!! This kind of stuff shouldn't be happening!!

It would seem that this man is being targeted by a divisive mentality being promoted in our schools and communities right now. We should not allow this to gain traction or ruin this man’s career and years of service to education, students, and the community.

Coach Oswald has always been a man of exemplary character. This man has been a mentor, coach and advocate for students, student athletes and co-workers throughout his career. I have had three boys who are products of the Lee’s summit school district. All three are successful and doing well. Coach Oswald is responsible for a portion of that success. He holds his students accountable and encourages growth and success by taking an interest in each and every student. Not once in all these years have I ever heard a negative comment regarding this educator. All three of my children have been the beneficiary of his unwavering character and commitment to students. I encourage the board to reverse its decision to terminate this educator. This decision was made without a comprehensive investigation and represents a miscarriage of justice. Please reverse this decision to terminate and reinstate coach Oswald to his rightful position within the district. Thank you -Kathy Conard

Joe is one of the best men I’ve ever known. The way he carries himself and treats others is truly selfless. He loves and supports his family, students, players, and friends better than anyone. The allegations against him are completely misconstrued and wrong. He is the very last person that would use the word in a hurtful or inappropriate way. I hope he finds justice and exposes the school for its awful treatment and poor judgement. I’m happy and proud to be his son in law!

This action against Joe seems to be very unfair. I thought the Lee’s Summit district was a good one but this action against an exemplary professional is making me rethink that position. Have they even asked for an explanation from Joe detailing his take on the situation before trying to terminate him.?

Coach Oswald was one of my favorite coaches I ever had when I was in high school. As a fellow PE teacher, he was one of teachers I idolized. He has always shown great character, passion, and professionalism, whether working with students or colleagues.

While I can’t speak to the specific allegations I can speak to Joey Oswald’s character and integrity. His history of positive, encouraging interactions with students for decades does in fact speak volumes as to the kind of man and educator he is. How is one accusation that is totally out of character being given such weight?

When I was first hired in the district by Dr. Jeff Miller, he told me that in his eyes Lee’s Summit is a “destination district.” After working with Coach Oswald, I could easily see why the district had such a reputation. His character is impeccable and for the district to pull this stunt, it makes me realize that much has changed over the last couple of years. I 100% support Coach Oswald and I am utterly embarrassed that the district administrators were/are so cowardly. Good luck Coach O. You have my support here in OK.

I’ve known coach Oswald for 30 plus years. He is a man of utmost character and was an example and role model for my children. Joe is kind and compassionate to EVERYONE. He has my whole hearted support !!

When a 27 year veteran teacher at LSR7, with an impeccable service record, is threaten with termination, on the grounds alleged, something is grossly wrong!! The only support given this highly professional teacher has been a request for his resignation. REALLY!!! Are you kidding me?? Is this the best LCR7 administration can do???
PEOPLE:
School Board members are no different from your governor, state senator/representative, mayor, council member, etc, etc. they are elected officials, and as elected officials you have a right, and the responsibility, to contact them as often as you deem necessary, DAILY if necessary!
By looking at the comments on this site one can easily realize that “Coach O” is highly respected by students, parents, and colleagues. I am appalled that not one (zero, 0, zippo) administrator has the guts to stand up and say NO, this is not Right!! If this fiasco can happen to “Coach O” it can just as easily happen to YOU!!! You can also see the kind of backing and support you’ll receive from this GUTLESS LSR7 administration.

This man was very influential to my son who went through PLMS approximately in 2004-2005. He needs to be allowed a fair and through investigation to determine IF he did anything against policy, which I cannot believe he did, based on his character.
