Coach O has been an important part of the LSR7 district for years. I cannot believe the world has come to this. So I guess my question is if we are terminating teachers/coaches positions then are the schools also terminating the relationship with the student who used the same terminology? Is the student being expelled from the LSR7 school district?

Coach O did nothing wrong. He is an amazing teacher that has been a positive male influence on our students. He has helped my son through so many things.
Training if anything, but termination is ridiculous.

This is a travesty against and dedicated, highly respected, and committed teacher that Lee’s Summit should thank the Lord has work diligently to serve all students in Lee’s Summit.

This is unfair treatment. Obviously he knows the word is inappropriate, that's why he gave the green slip. He was reading his report on what happened to check for clairification and accuracy. Teachers do this all the time so the student understands exactly why they got written up. Don't ruin this man's career on something someone else said.

After watching the testimony in the board meeting, I cannot see how this termination is justified. The man was simply clarifying a potential infraction by a student. Context DOES matter no matter how many times we are told it doesn’t.

As a former teacher it upsets me that the school district is making a mountain out of a molehill. He did not call the student the N-word. He was referencing a situation that was then taken out of context. Please work on diversity training within the district instead of going after a superior teacher.

Coach O was one of the most motivational selfless coaches I ever had. That includes 2 years of middle school football, basketball, and track. 4 years of football, and basketball in high school, and 5 years in college both 3 at the JuCo level and 2 at the D2 level. Coach O was the representation of positivity, hard work and determination. I remember dreading summer weights and conditioning every morning until coach O showed up. Every morning “It’s a great day to be a titan” with so much excitement was want changed my dread into excitement and motivation.
