He should not be fired for doing his job. I went to school at PLMS and when you get a green slip they are supposed to read what you did back to the student!

With all due respect, when you are searching for someone to make an example of, you may not want to select someone who has an impeccable track record of being one of the most upstanding leaders as a coach, teacher, mentor and citizen and has dedicated much of his life striving to help students and athletes succeed in every way possible.
We are behind you in every way Coach O! Thank you for your exemplary example and leadership.

Coach Oswald does not deserve this. In almost six years of him being an influence as a teacher, coach and mentor. Not one time in those years did he conduct himself in any manner other than respectful, caring and compassionate. The media calling him a racist will undoubtedly destroy everything he’s worked for in his life and 27 years with the district. All because he wanted the student to understand her words and the consequences as a result.

My children had Mr. Oswald as a teacher and coach, he is a good, up standing individual. Thank the good LORD my kids graduated before we had to experience what is going on in the school district, forcing out what’s good and right!

I grew up in the Lee’s Summit School District and Coach Oswald was my PE teacher and coach at Pleasant Lea Junior High. He was a dedicated teacher and coach and I have the utmost respect for him. This witch-hunt is absolutely ridiculous and you can bet I will NEVER send my children to school in the LS school district.

This is absolutely crap. I was a student of color at PLMS back around 2010. Coach Oswald made it a point to make PE an enjoyable, and inclusive class. There was absolutely NO room for racism, and I heard him personally get on people in PE for using ANY kind of slur. It was always shut down immediately. He got me interested in fitness, and health when I was at my lowest. I wish I had more time to type everything I think about him, because I can honestly say that I think he had absolutely no ill intentions. Keep in mind this is the same school board that elected none other than a black man about 3 years ago, and people lost their minds. This is nothing other than slander, and virtue signaling to the maximum. If I still lived in Lees Summit, I’d be there in a heartbeat. This is easily one of my top 3 favorite teachers my entire k-12 time in the LSR7 district.

Being retired from a law enforcement career of 24 years I am thankful I was never terminated and charged as a drug dealer for being in possession of large quantiles of narcotics from arrests and transporting them to the evidence locker. More than once in open court I've testified to exact statements and remarks persons have made and yes that includes using the N word, F word B word and a host of other unpleasant words infront of a judge and the court. This is done so there is no misunderstanding as to what was said. Mr. Oswald, it is absolutely an attack on your integrity and character whish I wish you well as you are now a tainted commodity and should be handsomely compensated for the ambush of your ethics as not only an exemplary educator but as a human also.

I have known Coach O for 15 years and never once has he demonstrated what he is being accused of. A teacher should not be terminated for repeating ANY words used by said student while explaining the reason for and enforcing the discipline. Terminating a teacher for incidences like these would set a negative precedent empowering students to misconstrue situations thus taking the authority and power away from the teacher to do his/her job. Our Schools cannot afford to lose valuable teachers such as Joe Oswald.

This is ridiculous! Coach Oswald is the best of the best! My kids LOVED him! He was only repeating what the student said which is what ALL the teachers are supposed to do! Yet the superintendent wants to FIRE him! He obviously does NOT know Coach Oswald.
