I want to do crew at Eustace. It’s one of the big reasons that I chose the school. I enjoy rowing so much and how much of a team sport it is.

The amount of scholarship money that will be lost with our rowers NOT rowing for our school is disgraceful. To word an email to everyone at Eustace stating only five rowers in the spring just to make the general public think oh they don’t even have enough rowers to have a team is very misleading to make the team look bad. The public should know you can enter singles, doubles, fours. They should also know that out of the five rowers one senior got a FULL RIDE to a Division I school. Also stating that it will be more competitive for them to row for Cooper Juniors just means they will have to compete to even have the opportunity to be in a boat at a regatta and have an opportunity to even race. Getting rid of the crew team robs our students of scholarship opportunities and will change the trajectory of their futures. This decision was made by people that have NOT even been to a regatta to show support for their own crew team even when the team is racing on Cooper River. You should be ashamed of yourselves for neglecting this portion of YOUR student body. I never thought the people at Eustace would behave this way. Not really that proud to say my child goes to Eustace right now. You can and should do better by ALL of your student athletes including the ones that don’t choose a “ball” sport.

Hello! As many of you saw an email went out this morning announcing, "Beginning next year, students interested in Crew will have the opportunity to participate through Cooper Junior Rowing Club." As we all understand that means they are folding the program. As of right now, they have no plans to sell off any ergs or equipment that is still in possession. There has to be a way to restart and rebuild the program as a scholastic team. Does anyone know someone who can coach? Could we get some sort of fund going to keep the rack space at the boathouse?

eustace considers itself a prep school for college, yet thrives on cutting academic and athletic programs that actually prepare its students for further education. it is actually just embarrassing for a school with “preparatory school” in its name, thats located on a river where some of the largest regattas are held, and half an hour from the other one that holds the other largest regattas, would cut a sport that teaches more discipline than any of the staff do, and sets students up for success better than eustace’s idea of a counseling office. this would be another huge mistake on part of the administration and I guarantee that it would just aide in the continuing decline of success for bishop eustace as a whole.

I rowed m at The Peddie School between 2018-2022 and was a former competitor of Bishop Eustace HS on the Schuylkill. It is quite frustrating for me to see another competitive high school being put on the chopping block, and I strongly urge BE’s administration to reconsider this short-sighted decision. As a former high school and collegiate rower, the sport has taught me how to persevere through various hardships in life, and I deem a competitive HS program critical to the growth of aspiring young men and women.

I graduated in 2021 and was on the BE crew team for my 4 years there, and the team completely directed my life in so many positive ways. It shaped me into the person I am today. It would be a shame to see the team go, it gave me so many opportunities and allowed me to meet some of my best lifelong friends, as well as introduced me into the amazing community that is rowing. Seeing this opportunity go away for current and future students would be extremely sad and disappointing. Rowing will always be a part of me. Dropping the team would be a huge mistake for so many reasons. BE is perfectly placed. The Cooper River is one of the best rowing courses in the country, used by US Rowing, collegiate nationals, and so many other high level competitions, and its right in BE’s backyard. Many schools would give so much to have the setup that BE has. The collegiate scholarship and recruiting opportunities for rowing are the best of any sport. Myself and many of my friends went on to row for competitive collegiate programs. Having a competitive rowing team is a trademark for competitive prep schools, providing many opportunities for students. I could go on, as there are endless reasons for why it would be a complete disgrace and missed opportunity to get rid of the team. I love BE crew, and would be deeply saddened to see it go.

My son benefited from 4 years of this program. In his Freshman year the program had more than 40 rowers. By his senior year, 12. The school has seen decreased enrollment which has stretched all sports. I know that increased costs is the issue but this school as an unequaled opportunity that most schools don’t have. Crew is a highly recruitable sport and something that can help not hurt enrollment. Lean in on what makes the school unique. Look into what the PA prep schools have done to keep things going. Please keep the program alive - it does serve a purpose to students who love the sport!

Simply because of geography, only certain schools can offer this sport -- one that gives student-athletes a different opportunity than the usual slate of scholastic sports, and will appeal to students with different strengths and interests. Distinctive opportunities seem, to me, to be a hallmark of what schools like Bishop Eustace can offer their students, and the program should be given the time and opportunity to be redeveloped.

Though I am not affiliated with Eustace. Do not shut down the crew program. To many schools are doing away with this treasured sport. Crew deserves to live at B.E

This elite sport should be encouraged at Bishop Eustace. The school is right on Cooper River! Keep the team and encourage growth.

Crew is a very valuable sport and having a team really sets BEP apart from the rest. You’d be crazy to cut this program!

I support the rowing program and the positive impact it has on students, including teamwork, discipline, and staying active.

This team was a deciding factor for me to come to Eustace in the first place.

Amazing program woul ove to see it continue
